Which device helps reduce rope drag when running rope through an anchor?

Webbing strap

Pulley

Using a pulley at the anchor is the best way to reduce rope drag. A pulley provides a rolling surface for the rope to pass over, turning most of the friction from sliding along the anchor into much smoother rolling friction. This makes it easier to pull or raise the rope through the anchor and helps keep the rope moving freely, especially when directing it in a new direction or when using longer runs. In contrast, a webbing strap is for building or reinforcing anchors, not guiding the rope; a harness is worn by the climber, not used in rope routing; and a carabiner is a connector that doesn’t minimize drag as effectively as a dedicated pulley.
